Business Problem

Job seekers struggled to create resumes that effectively highlighted their skills and experience, often failing to pass initial ATS screenings due to a lack of keyword optimization and proper formatting. This resulted in low interview rates and prolonged job searches.

Solution

Developed an intelligent resume builder using Laravel, integrating with OpenAI API for content generation, keyword optimization, and real-time feedback. Implemented customizable templates, ATS compatibility checks, and a powerful editor. Utilized Spatie Media Library for resume storage and PDF generation, and Laravel Horizon for processing AI inferences and document generation.

Architecture

Modular architecture with Resume Editor, AI Content Generation (OpenAI API), ATS Optimizer, Template Management, User Profile, and Document Export. Employs S3 for scalable storage of user resumes and media. Uses queued jobs for processing AI suggestions, ATS analysis, and PDF generation. Integrates with job portals for direct application.

Challenges

Training AI models to provide highly relevant and context-aware content suggestions, accurately optimizing resumes for diverse ATS algorithms, ensuring secure storage and privacy of sensitive personal data, designing a user-friendly interface that balances AI automation with user control, and generating pixel-perfect resumes across various formats.

Performance Optimizations

Implemented Redis for caching AI model responses and frequently used resume phrases, optimized database schema for storing resume data and user feedback, utilized Laravel Horizon for scalable processing of AI content generation and PDF exports, and employed Vue.js for a highly interactive and responsive resume editing experience with real-time feedback.
