Business Problem

Universities often operate with disparate systems for academic and administrative functions, leading to fragmented information, inefficient processes, and poor communication among stakeholders. Solution

Developed a robust university portal using Laravel for the backend, Inertia.js with Vue.js for a modern and interactive frontend, and Spatie Media Library for managing academic resources. Implemented single sign-on (SSO) integration, personalized dashboards, and a powerful notification system to connect students, faculty, and staff seamlessly.

Architecture

Modular architecture with Student Services, Faculty Portal, Administrative Dashboards, E-Library Integration, and Communication Hub. Leverages Laravel Horizon for asynchronous processing of bulk communications and report generation. Integrates with existing university systems via secure REST APIs and utilizes a central SSO mechanism for unified access.

Challenges

Integrating numerous legacy university systems (e.g., SIS, ERP) into a unified portal, ensuring high availability and performance under peak load from thousands of concurrent users, securely managing vast amounts of sensitive student and academic data, and providing a highly customizable and personalized experience for diverse user roles.

Performance Optimizations

Implemented Redis for caching frequently accessed campus news and course catalogs, optimized database queries for student grade retrieval and course registration, utilized Laravel Horizon for efficient processing of student enrollment and fee payment batches, and employed Vue.js router-level code splitting for faster page loading.
